Mulled Gin

Mulled Gin Cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 400 ml The Bond Store Kawakawa Gin (use 200 ml for a lighter drink)

  • 1 litre apple juice (not from concentrate)

  • 2 cloves

  • 2 cardamom pods, bruised (use a pestle and mortar or the end of a rolling pin)

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 4 juniper berries

  • ¼ tsp black peppercorns

  • 1 tbsp runny honey

  • A dash of spiced liqueur (you could use Koakoa Orange Liqueur for a citrus hit!)

  • Lemon and pear slices, star anise, and cinnamon sticks for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, combine the apple juice, cloves, cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, juniper berries, black peppercorns, and honey.

  2. Gently heat over low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Be careful not to let it boil.

  3. Once the mixture is warmed through and fragrant, add the gin and the spiced liqueur.

  4. Continue to heat for another 5 minutes, ensuring everything is well blended but not boiling.

  5. Strain the mixture into mugs or heatproof glasses.

  6. Garnish each glass with a slice of lemon, pear, star anise, and a cinnamon stick.

  7. Serve warm and enjoy the comforting, spiced flavors of your Mulled Gin Cocktail!
